Enhancement of Affiliative Emotion Using fMRI Neurofeedback

Project Overview

People can control their own brain activity when receiving feedback of that activity (neurofeedback) . Recently was demonstrated the possibility of brain training by neurofeedback  using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). Using this technique, healthy people and patients with neurological and psychiatric conditions can improve their cognitive and perceptual skills to handle their own brain states.

Despite evidence of the functioning of neurofeedback for fMRI in various contexts , little is known about the ability to control brain networks involved in motivational and emotional states related to prosocial behavior. This project aims to investigate the possibility of promoting the state of benevolence and assess their impact on altruistic behavior using neurofeedback by fMRI .
